The psychedelics observatory

The psychedelics observatory was launched in early 2024 to bring together all old and emerging knowledge for the general public and specialists. Its objectives are:

  1. Monitoring and Tracking: Collect, analyze and interpret relevant data regarding the use of psychedelics, including consumption trends, use practices, health effects and therapeutic outcomes.

  2. Research and development: Promote scientific and clinical research on psychedelics, supporting studies on their mechanisms of action, therapeutic effectiveness, and long-term effects.

  3. Awareness and Education: To provide accurate and balanced information about psychedelics to the general public, health professionals, policy makers and the media, to promote a fair and informed understanding of these substances.

  4. Health and Wellness Support: Facilitate access to information, resources and support services for people considering using psychedelics, as well as those looking to integrate their experiences into their daily lives.

  5. Advocacy and Activism: Advocate for fairer, more evidence-based policies regarding psychedelics, including supporting decriminalization, medical regulation, and clinical research.

  6. Promotion of good practices: Promote the adoption of responsible and ethical use practices for psychedelics, including risk reduction, respect for individual autonomy, and post-experience integration.

  7. Collaboration and Networking: Facilitate collaboration between researchers, practitioners, activists and people affected by psychedelics, to share knowledge, skills and resources to achieve common goals.

  8. Policy and Program Evaluation: Evaluate the impact of policies and programs related to psychedelics, examining their effectiveness, accessibility, and acceptability for affected populations.

The sections chosen to achieve these objectives are as follows:

  3. Health Effects: Assess the health risks and benefits associated with the use of psychedelics, including short- and long-term effects on physical and mental health.

  4. Use practices: Study the different use practices of psychedelics, such as shamanic ceremonies, microdose, or recreational use, and their cultural and social implications.

  5. Legislation and Policy: Track developments in laws and policies regarding psychedelics around the world, including decriminalization efforts, medical regulation, and research.

  6. Training and Education: Develop training and education programs for health professionals, therapists, and the general public on psychedelics, their effects, and their therapeutic applications.

  7. Accessibility and Safety: Examine issues related to the accessibility of psychedelics for therapeutic use, as well as safety protocols and best practices to minimize risks.

  8. Post-experience integration: Exploring best practices for integrating psychedelic experiences into daily life, including psychological and spiritual support.

  9. Societal and cultural impact: Analyze the impact of psychedelics on society and culture, including their role in art, music, spirituality, and philosophy.
